Hello people of Uncyclomedia.

An hour ago, Pinxin came to me on Facebook chat saying Uncyclomedia should expand its projects in the Tor network, because the Tor network is a fertile land for projects like this.

For those who do not know, Tor is a network that enables anonymous web browsing, used to access the famous Deep Web, currently the Deep Web became fashionable, and therefore, there are hosted sites acquiring fame and volunteers faster and faster.

This would help the projects to get more visitors!

The two wikis that Pinxin created in Deep Web (under the pseudonym of --- privacy edit by admin upon request) achieved fame and visitors too fast, okay, then the number of falls decreased, but still is growing faster than any surface (normal Internet) project.

I was told that this would cause problems because the Proxy and actions that become restricted projects would have to be taken.

Then... he suggested that is necessary to INCREASE the amount of administrators to patrol. But, as it is a characteristic of Uncyclomedia, select or open polls for new admins of the projects would create flamewars and fights.

Anyway, conversation goes, come and then... Pinxin suggests me to disseminate the projects in the Deep Web.

I agreed and this led me another idea: create a mirror of the UnMeta, which would be the basis of Uncyclomedia on the Deep Web

This would bring more fame to Uncyclomedia and their projects, and the number of volunteers or visitors will grow faster.

So?? what do you think?? It is good to create a "version" in the Deep Web?? Sorry for my english, folks.

Thanks, Pinxin. I wrote up a translation myself but yours is more complete so I won't bother to post mine.
Sure, I guess...advertising the projects sounds ok, but I don't know about the mirror. Why would you want to put Uncyclomedia projects in there instead of just advertising them? Would it be a mirror, a sort of redirect page or alternative url, or another site? A fork? If the latter, I think we have enough forks running around as it is. If the former, sure, I don't see why not. Llwy-ar-lawr (talk) 00:17, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
Unfortunately I do not agree with the idea of creating a mirror page. I believe this has to be discussed with Carlb first. Rhubella selo-02.pngRhubella Marie, the rat sockpreppie 3,187 preppieditsRhubella selo-01.png 01:50, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
LOGICAL that must be discussed with Carlb, the final word is his--      Look atmy deeds Renan Jackson Flag of the USA.svg - 02:04, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
I cannot support the idea of creating a mirror of UnMeta (this wiki), because I don't immediately see why we should increase the popularity of this coordination project. Neither this would be good for the existing and new languages. Another reason is the dependency of a service which I don't know the policy of. For me this would be an alternative web host for communities that want to stay away from wiki farm companies like Wikia. Unlike the languages hosted by Uncyclomedia, however, we can consider to move languages from Wikia to that kind of service (I'm not sure yet). Or, new projects (which are not new languages) can start up a project there under Uncyclomedia Foundation's recognition/bond.
Please also mind that we cannot just plant a flag on TOR's services, claiming it's ours and then facing the reality that super administrators or stewards can do whatever they like | Cartoonist | Spit it out (talk) | E-mail | UnMeta | 23:55, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
Maybe a better idea was to block every access to UnMeta projects from TOR and other services that are easy prey to spambots: Cthulhu.fhtagn (talk) 00:42, 13 January 2014 (UTC)
I don't know if specifically TOR service would be an easy target for spam. It is said to counter-fight proxies; other documentation I've browsed through talk about some weaknesses/leaks. It's still up to Carl to deem about that, as I have a very limited knowlegde on this | Cartoonist | Spit it out (talk) | E-mail | UnMeta | 02:18, 13 January 2014 (UTC)
Cthulhu, that's why RadU suggested a greater number of sysops, and for the same reason I was against creating mirrors of designs there.

Cartoonist, the UnMeta there would be only one base, a Uncyclomedian center in Deep Web to better disclosure of designs.

In UnMeta there, the links to the projects would be on the main page--      Look atmy deeds Renan Jackson Flag of the USA.svg - 12:31, 13 January 2014 (UTC)

It just seems very odd to have this wiki moved to another host while we are offering free wikis ourselves. We're not really credible like that. I'm not criticising TOR, but I suggest you try this out for 1200 degrees and evaluate after a year or so. This is perhaps a great alternative for Uncyclopedias that are now hosted by Wikia, when there is a chance that it could possibly overrun Wikia in search results | Cartoonist | Spit it out (talk) | E-mail | UnMeta | 23:52, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
Is not transfer, is create a mirror--      Look atmy deeds Renan Jackson Flag of the USA.svg - 00:03, 15 January 2014 (UTC)
Okay, I was not reading well: it would be a mirror. Then there has to be a guarantee that all edits on TOR affect this wiki, or at least redirect users to this wiki. I actually don't want to agree on it yet. It would be helpful if Carl could give some advice on this, because I admit I don't have the knowlegde... Maybe you can try out a mobile version or so? Cartoonist | Spit it out (talk) | E-mail | UnMeta | 00:47, 15 January 2014 (UTC)
