[edit] Image upload problem again

I can't upload images. Could you fix it? --Rotoryu (talk) 16:33, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Forward from SEU

I would like a few extra user rights groups. Namely, SkipCaptcha, Autopatrol, and Sysop-lite (Sysop minus Block). The last one may be impossible to do, and if so, okay. But I appreciate it if it was possible, to create a more plesant editing experience. Thanks.--Colonel Sanders 23:05, 20 August 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Backup

Came a question in Desciclopédia: Forum:Backup da desciclopédia: Exists data backups of Desciclopédia, and how often?

I ask just to safety and calm down any insecurity. Alhazred (talk) 12:22, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

You were searching for http://download.uncyc.org ? I think it's updated monthly | CartoonistHenning (talk) 12:34, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
Yes! That is! But, just to confirm: If for example a disaster occurs today to Desciclopédia datas, we can recover the datas from 8-Aug-2011, right? Alhazred (talk) 12:53, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
Exactly | CartoonistHenning (talk) 13:43, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

[edit] DescicloMeta

This a returning problem. Can't you set $wgSitename permanently to UnMeta? Does LocalSettings constantly reset to a previous version? CartoonistHenning (talk) 20:05, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Clean URLs cause Uploads to fail

Hi Carl,

I've just started a new wiki for the Illogicomedia Foundation. All is well with the site except for my edits to .htaccess and LocalSettings.php to clean the addresses up. Basically, the clean urls work, but when they're activated they prevent file uploads. Commenting out the changes to LocalSettings fixes the problem, but loses the clean urls.

I've read a bunch of advice sites but haven't found this problem fixed. Can you help, or point me to a good resource? Thanks. ~ The Bard (talk) 08:14, 3 September 2011 (UTC)

Never mind. Solved it myself. =) ~ The Bard (talk) 19:59, 3 September 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Edit Count

Can you point me to the working Edit Count extension that you've installed all over the place? I can't find any trace of the Peterson version, and the mw-editcount one hosted on MediaWiki (that supports the #ec: function) is badly of date, and the Special page function doesn't work. ~ The Bard (talk) 23:06, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

The last mention of Benjamin Patersen is here. The version of the extension I have appears not to work with MediaWiki 1.19 (it's still valid for MediaWiki 1.17) and the same limitation applies for "logcount" as a modification of this extension. There have been no updates since 2009-07-17 although the code is still on SourceForge at the address indicated in mw:extension:MW-EditCount. Disappointing that someone would claim to be "maintainer" of this extension, fail to do anything, but stick his name in place of the author's to take credit? --03:33, 8 September 2011 (UTC)
Hi Carl. Thanks for replying. Disappointing indeed, but also confusing because I'm already running the hijacked "Fahad Sadah" release. Your version seems to work perfectly even though you're running 1.17 alpha, and yet I've only had partial function with with 1.16.5 and 1.17. Specifically, the Special:EditCount fails at line 164. Have you made any fixes to the code to account for changes in MW over the past 3 years? ~ The Bard (talk) 04:55, 8 September 2011 (UTC)
EditCount.zip is the version I have; I recall a few extensions having to be changed to add "return true;" due to MediaWiki 1.14 but not sure if this one was affected. I know it won't run at all in MW 1.19 (stops with a blank page, error 500, and "PHP Fatal error" in the log) but is still alive in 1.17alpha. A few other extensions (such as <css> as a tag, not a parser function) also break in MW 1.19 --Carlb (talk) 06:33, 8 September 2011 (UTC)
Is this the reason why I can't access Niesiklopedia? EditCount has always been a detail for me, but it's still a damn nice tool. A probable reason why developers (developers, developers!) don't want to update their extensions, is something like [quoting fictional phone conversation] "!#%@& why can't you just stick to m*thaf*ckin 1.17 !#%@&" | CartoonistHenning (talk) 13:25, 8 September 2011 (UTC)
EditCount, LogCount and a few others (see full list on Report a problem#MediaWiki_1.19_extensions) are not available on niesiklopedia.org (af:) or the other MW 1.19 wikis at the moment (most of these, as new languages, appear to be one-page domains or empty, with the possible exception of mwl: at 46 pages). These extensions were removed from the MW 1.19 wikis a month ago as they were breaking things (but are still on the MW 1.17alpha wikis here). The problem is that the extension authors are often not among MediaWiki's authors and may not still be active on the project to deal with a so-called "upgrade" that breaks things. --Carlb (talk) 13:54, 8 September 2011 (UTC)

[edit] New extensions

Hello, Carl. I’m very glad that you have installed those 4 extensions. But a couple of them don’t work:

  • AbuseFilter — when I turn it on, it doesn’t allow to save pages anymore. Instead of it I get blanked page;
  • DeleteBatch — doesn’t work too. When I click to «Delete» on Special:DeleteBatch, it redirects me to editing of page named «Object» (!)

Could you please check them? Thanks. --This user is administrator of Ukrainian Uncyclopedia. Vox 22:54, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Sorry to interrupt, but I moved this comment from .info.

[edit] Administrator on cy: and et:

Can you give Rhubella and me bureaucrat + sysop permissions on cy: and et:? We need to revert the spam there, unless you gonna delete it yourself? ;-) Cartoonist | Spit it out (talk) | Website | UnMeta | 23:15, 1 January 2012 (UTC)

The Belarusian uncuyclopedia three days ago is being attacked by vandals. All pages, including administrative expenses (this includes your page and discussion) were deleted and replaced by nonsenses. I ask permission to post to administrator. Move sysop for great ban Rhubella beach.jpgRhubella Marie, the rat sockpreppie 1664 preppieditsRhubella.jpg 20:29, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
I can even understand that the project itself was a mirror. But the version of the Wikia has been eliminated and only see a damn Russian delete everything here.

What I ask is that you read my request on the last forum where I edited and reflect on the situation. Rhubella beach.jpgRhubella Marie, the rat sockpreppie 1664 preppieditsRhubella.jpg 16:06, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
