Hai Roy, welkom op de nogal verlaten Intercyclopedia. D. G. Neree 12:31, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

xD[edit]

Roy, can you please give me one of those shiny colours/colors on the RC, or do you need Carl to do that? I could always tackle you for this on MSN, but I wanted to check out my old new sig which I translated so poorly into english. FeyBart My Garbage 19:08, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

Persian Uncyclopedia[edit]

Roye, unless you and Cartoonist cares, I'm interested in opening a forum to discuss what's happening in the Persian Uncy. On the one hand, there seems to be some disarray among users and applications management. For this, we should say that they should solve these problems. However, I notice on my visits complaints of abuse of power by some users. I gave an invitation to Alhazred and I hope that if he can attend the conference, I thank you. Rhubella selo-02.pngRhubella Marie, the rat sockpreppie 3,563 preppieditsRhubella selo-01.png 17:31, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

So far I don't follow the case with the Persians, but I read though some things like power abuse indeed. Whether it might be, I cannot judge about those things because I do not know anything about the situation right there. Maybe this is quite offtopic, but what I can tell is that the "Request for permissions" is a quite controversial one if I compare this with the power abuse, where requests appeared for userrights and that they were given, if I see everything correctly. Random people asking for admin-rights should be only for the bureaucrats, not for us on UnMeta - if that already was not the case. If there is evidence of abuse, that should be strongly condemned, to prevent a coup or anything else. One thing is sure, problems need to be fixed, and maybe I will give a look at it, but do not expect a lot from me for now. Like you asked, you can start a forumpage about this, asking both parties to give their story about it, or wait for anyone else who can handle the matter, e.g. Cartoonist, which I haven't seen already today. Roye7777777 ~ Talk 17:50, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

To make matters worse there is already a charge of use of socks there. I wonder what is happening here too. This may explain why so many IP appears in the "Request for permissions" Rhubella selo-02.pngRhubella Marie, the rat sockpreppie 3,563 preppieditsRhubella selo-01.png 17:55, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

No, create the forum page. Of should I do it? Roye7777777 ~ Talk 18:04, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

New Page for Desciclopédia Embassy[edit]

Hi! I started to elaborate a new page for the Desciclopédia' Embassy, and I will copy the model that you created to UnN:Oncyclopolis, it was really beautiful.

But while I was working on the adjustments, I could not find how you fit this picture (File:YellowBorderNAM.png) as the background of the top. Can you explain how you put that picture there? I want to put a Desciclopedian version in Desciclopédia Embassy.

Thank you. ABDUL ALHAZRED Salah, Zakāh, Ramadan, Hajj 16:40, 24 September 2011 (UTC)

I did that without putting anything on the page itself but actually I did, let me explain: for example:
<div style="padding:1em;">haha</div>

Here I didn't use the "style" thing, but I used the "class" thing, so it became for example this:

<div class="test" style="padding:1em;">haha</div>

With this, I made a class named "nambg" that contains a bunch of code that is located in the MediaWiki:Common.css (or MediaWiki:Vector.css or MediaWiki:Monobook.css, depends on how you want it - only on vector, or everywhere - common.css is on every skin). As you can see there, on Common.css is written this:

.nambg {
    background-color: #FEEF9B;
    background-image:url("http://images.uncyc.org/meta/7/70/YellowBorderNAM.png");
    background-repeat: no-repeat;
    background-position: top left;
}

On the Oncyclopedian Embassy has "nambg" (and nambg2) been used as a class. Background-image makes the background an image, background-repeat makes it only appear once in the box and background-position makes it align to the top-left of the box - that's how I did it. This should be possible without thouching MediaWiki or any other CSS-pages, but that seems to be a bug (doesn't work either between <css> </css> tags) that makes it not working. You have adminrights on UnMeta, so you can add an other version of it, Desciclopedian style, or if you want to use the same, just add in the code of the box class="nambg" before, or after the style="". BTW, ignore the nowiki's, they are only for the layout. Roye7777777 ~ Talk 17:46, 24 September 2011 (UTC)

Thank you very much
I will study it calmly ABDUL ALHAZRED Salah, Zakāh, Ramadan, Hajj 20:52, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
I have corrected my answer slightly. Roye7777777 ~ Talk 20:57, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
So, in practice. When I write in the page:
{| class="nambg3" style="border-bottom:1px solid #007F0E; border-top, border-left, border-right:none; width:100%; height:300px;"
|style="width:195px;"|
|style="vertical-align:bottom; color:#007F0E;"|[[Image:Exemple.png|link=]]<br>[[Image:Anotherimage.png|link=]]
|}
How do I make about this "nambg3" turns in this background: File:Itamaraty.png? ABDUL ALHAZRED Salah, Zakāh, Ramadan, Hajj 21:38, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
I will do it, but you have to add
.nambg3 {
    background-color: #FEEF9B;
    background-image:url("http://images.uncyc.org/meta/f/f5/Itamaraty.png");
    background-repeat: no-repeat;
    background-position: top left;
}
to MediaWiki:Common.css. Roye7777777 ~ Talk 21:41, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
Thank you very much. Now it's all clear! If you were a girl I would kiss you. ABDUL ALHAZRED Salah, Zakāh, Ramadan, Hajj 21:50, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
"Sadly" I'm not. XD Roye7777777 ~ Talk 21:52, 24 September 2011 (UTC)

Well, the sketch is done: UnN:Desciclopédia. But I still need more help... Why File:BvED.png and File:Sejaengraçado.png are completely over the background? ABDUL ALHAZRED Salah, Zakāh, Ramadan, Hajj 02:50, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

The background is white, because it isn't transparent. Transparency, the background, is the key. Try using Paint.NET instead of Paint. It is different, but you will get out. Roye7777777 ~ Talk 09:05, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

Logo vote[edit]

What I said here, basically. I assume if I annoy both of you someone else might be more likely to see it and do it instead. Er... I mean...

Main Pages[edit]

Ok, thank you. I didn't know that the code for English language had a problem, then, I will review the Occidental (Interlingue) code yet, I used the English code because I have a English-Interlingue dictionary only. I would translate the Main Page for Interlingua, Ido and Esperanto, also Interlingue. Uncyclopædiavu'wI’RENAN377contributionsThe best of Spain 22:39, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

The text is not that exactly to be translated (as far as I know, else we've got the translator), but the setup of the fill-ins, the parameters. Some things aren't working at the English one. Roye7777777 ~ Talk 15:22, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
Please, can you add the interwiki Interlingue (ie) within the list from Template:Other languages/Template:Main Page ? The page is protected together with Main Page. :D Uncyclopædiavu'wI’RENAN377contributionsThe best of Spain 22:44, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
I don't know; maybe Volapük (vo). What do you think? :P Uncyclopædiavu'wI’RENAN377contributionsThe best of Spain 01:05, 19 January 2012 (UTC)

Excessively bright colour[edit]

Not that this has that much to do with colours, specifically... anyway, I wanted to apologise for being such a jerk when last we spoke on IRC; I don't remember exactly what I said, but it was a stressful time and you didn't deserve any that, so... sorry about that. Any chance of seeing you on IRC in the future?

Also, the logo you made for is is pretty decent, especially considering how long you apparently took for it. That said, there are a couple things I might suggest - for one, the shadow - it uses a drop shadow, slightly blurred, which is pretty apparent. Now if you're in a hurry, that was probably the easiest way to do it, but if you have GIMP, the layered original is available on the Requests for logos page, and that one attempts to mimic shadowing resultant from indirect (or soft) light. You could also paint a new one if you have the time, but I like to think I did a pretty good job on that part. I certainly spent long enough trying to get it right. >.<

And the other thing is the text itself, the 'Ekkipedia' label. Despite what CH claimed about how I messed it all up or whatnot, apparently all I did was try to make it match Wikipedia's, since when I lined it up just now to check, it matched Wikipedia's. Exactly. If these really are supposed to be parodies of Wikipedia, then making it match up is probably what we want, no?

That said, CH is right about one thing: there is no need to have all the logos be the same as each other, be that a bunch of clones of en or nl or es or what have you. Varying the specific colours of the lot of dead ones would be a fairly simple to implement variety and give them a bit more flair, or whatever you might want to call it. Some brighter than others, some more orange, some more yellow, some more purple - because why not? There really are purple potatoes. ~ Pointy.png 17:58, 29 January 2012

The shadow of the logo is actually the same one as used on the Dutch wiki.png , wherefrom I got an "empty template" that was ready to adjust, so that maybe explains why making this one was not taking hours, but fifteen minutes or so. Normally I use Paint.NET, I actually never took a very close look at GIMP, but I can take a look at it when the moment is right. With Paint.NET I created a black circle, blurred it, made it transparent and twisted it through its x- and y-axis. The positioning was a hell, I can imagine.
The text, is the same font as Oncyclopedia, and probably the same one as Uncyclopedia, but I don't know who choosed the font for the potato, but though, research showed that that one was supposed to be NimbusRomDGR (with spaces or not, got to look for it, but trying a few possibilities should give a quicker answer than when I have to start up a text-editing programme, look at it, note it and type it again. Ofcourse the logo's don't have to look exactly the same, one with a peel, without a peel, but though, it could be more different like Italian, French etc. but that is to decided for a community that could get active one day on an uncyc like that one day.
For now, I have been bombed by homework, for example summarizing the always intriguing *ahem* neoclassicism. Not today, but maybe monday I can take a look at IRC if you want to. Roye7777777 ~ Talk 18:16, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
The appears to be more blurred on the nl, though. Guess that's the thing that makes the difference, how much blur... and in which direction, at that. Nevermind the text on the potato itself; so long as the things don't look too different from the other stuff it shouldn't matter. Generally that just means getting it the right size and colour and fuzziness, which it was on both of ours, just differently.
But anyhoo, yes... coursework. Yuck. I should do that as well. It's no pressure, though, just pop by from time to time, eh? ~ Pointy.png 21:01, 29 January 2012
Just doing it when I have to. When I don't have to, I just don't, until I find it necessary to do so. Roye7777777 ~ Talk 21:26, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
I believe the word for that in english is 'procrastination'. ^^ ~ Pointy.png 22:00, 29 January 2012

Royl, you actually want me to splode?[edit]

I read your comment 'happy sploding' on cartoonist henning's discussion page (And self-destructed there. [I revived myself])

YOU WANT ME TO SPLODE?!?!?!?!?

That's all up to yours. No e-mail equals sploding, but hey, I responded, gave you help, and to my surprise, you responded too, so that seems quite unlikely you are being able to splode yourself. Now, when we are talking about differences in sploding, the lifewide difference in, to splode, to explode, a splode, splosion and to implode. Sploding, in contrary to splodging (what comes close to the way how to write it), looks like diving into water (though we all prefer pudding) or, what we call in Holland, a bomb (bommetje!), so it depends on how you look at it. However, I strongly discourage to jump with a computer into the water, what means we all got lectrocution (lek in Dutch means leak). Computers do not float most of the times namely. To help you fight this spam[edit]

Ask Carlb for the CheckUser tool, so he will be able to detect the IP of this misfortune and put rangeblock in his range, which is likely to be Proxy. Because I see a certain personality of this spammer, when a Sysop comes to banish his sock and delete all pages, he returns a few hours later to make new spam. Applying a nice rangeblock, with time, the vandalism of this guy will dry up. Dragomaniaco (talk) 23:57, 13 August 2022 (UTC)
